Come together to do something great_

Blesma Need You

Here at Cloud Ten, we pride ourselves on going the extra mile (or 54 as the case may be) as we join Blackstone Consultancy in their London to Brighton cycle on September 16th in aid of Blesma. With our continued work in the UK’s security sector, we have been aware of the fabulous work carried out by Blesma for a few years; therefore wanted to do our bit to help out!

A little about Blesma

Since 1932, Blesma has been the only national Armed Forces Charity that supports limbless veterans. The Limbless Veterans — as they’re otherwise known — aid all serving and ex-servicemen and women who have lost limbs, or use of limbs or eyes, by providing vital stability to their lives with rehabilitation activities and welfare support.

Providing the right support is no short-term fix. It is a challenging and demanding programme which requires the support of psychological counselling and specialist therapies. With Blesma being the sole charity to provide such backing, highlights the necessity for us to help raise awareness of their incredible work, so they can maintain the level of support they do so excellently.

The Team

We have sprinkled an extra touch of creativity towards the event, with specially designed tops, modelled by our all-star athletic-ish team. The stylish cycle jerseys place Blesma central to the design — surrounded by the other corporate sponsors who have generously donated to the cause or are taking part in the cycle.

Blackstone Consultancy (the brain-child of this challenge): Private security specialists who provide individuals and companies with bespoke, discreet; yet exceptionally vigilant security arrangements.

TSI Security: TSI support many commercial and private sector businesses with bespoke security solutions.

Northern Trust: Global asset managers who support organisations, grow their assets and invest responsibly.

Ecclesiastical: Renowned for being the only financial group with a purely charitable purpose. They are the UK’s 4th largest corporate donor and donated £27 million to charity last year.

Blesma Support

So, what’s this courageous team doing to raise awareness and money?

On 16th September the group of 11 riders set off from South London to the Brighton seafront — a shy 54 miles (54 too many for some!). Once out of London, we are blessed with quiet country lanes passing through Mitcham, Carshalton, Chipstead, Banstead and Haywards Heath until our great challenge: a mile long incline up Ditchling Beacon! From there on, we are presented with fantastic views (if we can see straight) and a much welcomed downhill cycle for the final few miles; then onto a well deserved cold beverage!

Let’s make a noise

There are many ways you can support the team before, during and after the event…

Donation: By heading to the Just Giving page, you can submit any monetary donation you wish to help Blesma continue with the fabulous work they do.

Awareness: As the event gets ever closer, we will be sharing updates on the teams training, and whether the current ‘snug fit’ cycle shirts become a little more breathable!

Whether you donate or not, one of the primary objectives is to raise awareness of Blesma — which you can be a part of! Help us out by sharing our article and training images across your social media to create a real noise online.

Support the riders along the journey: Do we pass you on our mission? Why not come out and give us a little cheer?!

Your donations or time will help us to shout out about the phenomenal work Blesma do to support our commendable servicemen and women.

Man vs Bike

One of our own, Simon, will be taking part as one of the many riders and will be providing us with updates and images of his training (which will be entertaining if nothing else). We are all very proud of the challenge he is taking on and will be with him every ‘pedal’ of the way.

To keep track of his progress, follow our social media accounts or keep your eyes on our blog for the latest updates.
